Mirror Image

I look in the mirror,
And all that I see,
Is the face of a girl,
Who used to be me.
Where did that girl go?
Where is she now?
Did she just disappear?
Will someone tell me how?
Where are those carefree days?
The play time at the park?
When all worries were,
Was a fear of the dark.
Where is the constant energy?
The endless wonder and joy?
How mom could solve anything,
And eternal bliss, a new toy.
I look in the mirror,
And all that I see,
Is the face of a girl,
Who I long to be me.
Now things are different,
Very different indeed.
Childhood days long gone,
Vanished at rapid speed.
No longer a child,
But sometimes wish to be,
To return to a life,
That was so simple and free.
Now plagued by bills,
And finding a true path.
What does the future hold?
It better NOT involve Math!
I must find myself,
Determine which road to take,
Always looking back to wonder,
Did I make a mistake?
I look in the mirror,
And all that I see,
Is the face of a girl,
Who grew up to be me.
